Assistant Public Works Director


The purpose of this position is to assist in directing operations of the Public Works Department, including Administration and Field Operations which includes (SCADA, Telemetry, Canal Gate, Pumping System, Road Maintenance, Mowing, Drainage and Equipment maintenance) and to provide professional project management services and coordinate/monitor construction activities for the Public Works department. This position reports to the Director of Public Works.

Code Enforcement Officer - Part-Time


Performs specialized work in code compliance and enforcement. Position is responsible for providing customer service by resolving complaints in connection with property, business tax receipts, public nuisances and land development codes related to the Town's codes and ordinances. Work is performed under general supervision with limited latitude. Position exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques.

Engineer Technician - Engineer in Training


The Engineering Technician / Engineer in Training performs senior-level technical work in engineering, including, inspecting, and testing equipment, analyzing plans for construction and design, writing daily reports, and carrying out any other necessary tasks delegated by the Town Engineer or Director of Public Works. The position is responsible for applying general principles of engineering and technology to assist the Town Engineer or Director of Public Works in the evaluation, planning, designing, constructing and maintenance of Town of Loxahatchee Groves and private projects. Work is performed under general supervision with moderate latitude. The position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.

The Public Works Service Worker I position is a semi-skilled position. Under direct supervision, the position is expected to learn the safe and efficient operation of selected construction equipment. Work may include light or heavy physical labor when not operating equipment. The position is expected to perform minor servicing and regular maintenance of assigned equipment.

Under general supervision, the employee in this class is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy construction equipment. Work is performed under general supervision with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures. Work includes light to heavy physical labor when not operating equipment. The employee is expected to perform minor servicing and regular maintenance on assigned equipment.

The Public Works Service Worker III position is a highly skilled position in the operation of heavy construction equipment. Under general supervision, the employee in this class is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy construction equipment with the ability to finish grade accuracy. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude in the use of initiative. Position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures. Work includes light to heavy physical labor when not operating equipment. The employee is expected to perform minor servicing and regular maintenance on assigned equipment.
